Executive team



    Jos Belgrave

    Jos joined Hallmarq in January 2009 and succeeded James Otter as CEO in January 2010. He has 13 years experience as an equine vet developing a large hospital practice in Arundel, UK. Since selling his practice he has co-founded Vetstream, an online information service for vets around the world; worked for Intervet at their head office in The Netherlands as well as working in the human healthcare market in various roles.

    Nick Bolas

    Nick came to MRI in its very earliest days, as part of his research work in the Biochemistry Dept at Oxford University, and has helped develop bespoke MRI systems for a wide range of applications in medicine, biological science, and industry.

    In 2000 he founded, with two business partners, Hallmarq Veterinary Imaging Ltd to develop the world's only MRI scanner for the standing sedated horse. He now manages marketing and training relationships with vets and horse owners. Nick has a D.Phil (Oxon) and MBA (Open University) and is a horse owner and rider.

    Steve Roberts

    Steve has led Hallmarq’s product development activities since 2004 and operations since 2008. He has over 20 years' experience developing MRI systems and has a Ph.D. and a first class honours degree in MRI Physics.

    Steve has worked on the development of both high and low field MRI systems which included obtaining the world’s first human head images at 4.7 Tesla and body images at 3 Tesla. Steve has held several management positions including; MRI Applications Manager (SMIS Ltd), VHF Applications manager (Marconi Medical Systems), Development Director (PulseTeq Ltd), and Managing Director (MR Research Systems Ltd), before joining Hallmarq in 2004.

    Giedre Podolyak

    Operations Manager

    Giedre Podolyak

    Giedrė manages the dynamic operations team who manufacture, install, train, support and service Hallmarq’s MRI scanners.

    Giedrė was part of Hallmarq’s development and customer support group between 2004 and 2008, then gained project and people management experience in a medical device company before re-joining Hallmarq in 2015. Giedre has a Ph.D. in physics and an MBA degree.

    Financial Controller

    Michele Hoskins

    Michele is the Financial Controller for the Hallmarq group of companies, with responsibility for accounts and financial reporting in all territories.

    She is an ACCA qualified accountant, joining Hallmarq in 2011

    North America

    Dan Brown

    Dr. Dan Brown is VP - North America and equine business development director for the USA and Canada. Dan is a veterinarian with equine, general practice and commercial experience.

    Larry Sargent

    Larry (FCCA) heads the finance function. He has held FD positions in several private and listed industrial companies and has extensive experience of managing change in rapidly developing organisations.

    Global Business Development Director - Companion Animals

    Karen Johnston

    Karen graduated with degrees in business as well as veterinary medicine and spent time in clinical practice both at university level as well as in private practice. She has worked for many years in the business of veterinary medicine in roles such as R&D, communications, sales, and marketing in numerous countries including the UK, USA, South Africa, Australia, and China. Karen joined Hallmarq in 2014 as Director of Global Business Development and is tasked with bringing news about the PetVet to interested veterinarians across the world.
